Titling
Definition:
Titling refers to any non-diegetic text (external to the narrative) that appears on the screen during the course of the film. It
is also known as a narrative disruption.
Uses:
It is distinct from the title, as its purpose is to provide information necessary to the narrative.
Titling can also be used to create a specific style or genre.
For example, Bill Bennett has a quote from Dylan Thomas on the screen at the start of Kiss or Kill.
