The pitch
Definition:
The pitch occurs when the writer or the producer or director (or any combination) attempt to raise finance for the project by verbally pitching the project to possible investors in the private or government sectors.

Role:
The idea is to encapsulate all the merits of the project, as quickly and as succinctly as possible, and in such a way that the financiers will become as excited by the project as the pitchers. Film financiers must be convinced that an audience will buy tickets and so return the financiers' investment.
